Epson 98 Black Ink Cartridge High-Capacity

For Use with Artisan 700 and Artisan 800; Ultra HD photo inks last 4x longer than lab prints; Photos with unsurpassed richness, depth and clarity; Smudge, scratch, water, and fade resistant prints; Convenient, individual ink cartridges

Epson Artisan 800 printer is the best inkjet printer I have ever owned!!!!
I have bought just about every make of ink jet printer there is over the years. I can give a list of printers to avoid, but that is another horror story. I use ink jet printers primarily for photos as I have not found a lazer printer that can reproduce photos as well as an ink jet. I read the reviews on Amazon before I bought this printer and I can say that I was a little gun shy about the issue of ink use and other downfalls people wrote about. I bought this on sale at a major office supply store with the guarantee that if I didn't like it I could return it. I have owned it about 9 months and printed a lot of 4x6, 5x7 and a few 8x10 pictures. The detail and color is beautiful, the printing fast, you can handle the prints right out of the printer. Documents look like they were printed on a lazer. I have found that it is very good on ink. At the time of this writing I have gone thru 2 sets of ink cartridges. Note: ONLY use Epson Ink and Epson Photo Paper. Like most printers, if you use aftermarket supplies you will get very bad results. Inexpensive supplies that don't work is no bargain. Being wireless is great. The only draw back is the scanner is slow, no big deal to me as I use a lazer all in one for that. Bottom line is if your looking for a great printer I highly recommend the Artisan 800! Hope this helps.

It's hard to review this high capacity ink cartridge. For one, yes it does last a lot longer than the standard black but I only know that because I got a standard capacity with the printer and so do have some comparison. However, since then I have been unable to find a standard capacity black cartridge to purchase since then, this makes the 'high capacity' the de facto standard. At the current price-point it's twice as expensive as a standard color cartridge and that niggles me a little. The ink lasts... the printer prints well... it does what it says on the box - and so all should be good.

But I wish epson would bundle the 98 black with the 5-pack color multipack and not force me to shell out so much separately for a single black cartridge.

Kodak Combo Ink Cartridge

Kodak COMBO Ink Cartridge contains one standard black cartridge and one color cartridge.

Love this ink and printer - I purchased the Kodak ESP 5250 because I was tired of the high cost of HP and Canon ink per page. This printer and ink are great. Excellent quality and fair price.

Kodak cheats its printer users by running a print-head clean, which uses both black and color ink, after every print job. What does this mean to the end user? Lots of wasted ink.

I have owned my Kodak AiO printer for a couple of years, and it has been a dependable printer. In the course of those 2 years I've replaced both the black and color ink cartridges 5 times apiece. I have never printed a color document with this printer --- it's used only for printing black & white invoices and receipts. Still, my color ink cartridges run out at almost the exact same time as my black ink cartridges (usually within one or 2 printed pages). Kodak ink prices are very reasonable, but by forcing their printers to waste ink after each print, they ensure that you will be buying twice as much ink as you use. Another feature is that Kodak printers (or my EasyShare 5100, at least) will not print if either the color or black ink cartridge is empty. The printer won't print a B&W document unless it has color ink to waste after it prints! I continue to put up with my Kodak printer simply because Kodak's ink prices are low enough to be competitive, even though I basically have to purchase 1 color and 1 black cartridge for every black cartridge I use.

Canon CLI-8 4-Color Multipack Ink Tanks

The CLI-8 from Canon is a pack of four high-capacity color ink cartridges that use long-lasting Chromalife ink for bright and vivid results. Compatible with Pixma models iP4200, iP5200, iP5200R, iP6600D, MP500, MP800, and MP950, each of these four ink cartridges yields up to 280 pages, based on five percent coverage. The ink is also resistant to fading and smudges, so everything you print is sharp and clear.

What's in the Box
One cartridge each of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow ink tanks.

Most Helpful Favorable Review:
Just an FYI; the ink set shown here (CLI-8BK, CLI-8M, CLI-8C, and CLI-8Y) also match what's needed in the Canon PIXMA MP530, save for the Canon PGI-5BK 2PK (sold separately). (As of this writing, the MP530 is not listed in the compatible printer list, though the MP500 is. Considering how confusing all this typically gets, I thought I'd mention it.)

Price is great; even better if you're with Amazon Prime (free 2-day shipping and inexpensive overnight shipping).

Most Helpful Critical Review:
Amazon claims this works with the MX700. The color inks do, but not the black. Be aware that if you buy for the MX700, you need to throw away the black (you need a CLI-5, not the CLI-8 included).

Epson Color Multi-pack Ink Cartridges with three individual cartridges provides a convenient way to refill only empty ink cartridges as needed. Other features include rich and vibrant DURABrite inks for smudge-proof prints and a superior resistance to water and fading without bleeding.
  • A three-pack of individual ink cartridges for superior print quality
  • DURABrite inks produce rich, vibrant colors
  • Superior resistance to fading, wear and smudging
  • Acid-free for longer lasting documents.
  • Non-bleeding ink perfect for double-sided printing
The box contains Epson Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink cartridges

Most helpful favorable review:
The color ink in these cartridges seems excellent to me, a non-specialist in colored ink. The good news is that you only replace just the ink color that runs out in your Epson printer, avoiding the need to throw away unused ink in single cartridges that hold 3 colors, and maybe even black, too. It is also very easy to replace cartridges.

The bad news is that, in Epson (and other) printers, you can't print even just black text if any one of these colors runs out. So you are forced to keep supplies of all four colors installed in your Epson printer at all times if you want to use it at all, even if you have no prospect of printing in color in the near future.

These little cartridges are expensive, and it is obvious that Epson is making its profits on ink cartridges and not on the cheap printers most people use. The whole system is inherently unfriendly to the environment, as there is such a lot of waste in disposing of these complex little electronic cartridges once the ink is gone from them.

The obvious thing to do would be for Epson to sell just replacement ink to pour in to recepticles for each color when they are empty or nearly so. Some environmentally friendly way of keeping the ink channels unclogged would be needed then, but hey, they'd still make a lot of money selling ink and ink channel cleaner. Is this rocket science?

When I searched Amazon for the the ink I need for my Epson Stylus C120 I did a search for "Epson Ink 69." I found the ink and placed the order, but when I received the ink it was the wrong ink (TO60520 instead of TO69520) Now I have no way of knowing how the error happened because by the time I discovered the error it was to late to go back into my browsing history to see the page that I was looking at. I remember ordering the 69 series ink, but all the receipts say TO60520 was ordered. So, I have to assume I made the mistake ... but I just don't know how ... ?!?!?!?

Canon CL-41 Color FINE Ink Cartridge

Displaying or storing inkjet photo prints in rooms with high temperatures and humidity can cause ink migration (ink bleed) and loss of sharpness in photos. Genuine ChromaLife100 inks provide exceptional resistance to these negative effects when used with Canon Photo Paper Pro paper.

Photos printed with Genuine Canon ChromaLife100 compatible inks and Canon Photo Paper Pro paper are designed to resist real world conditions that can cause a photo to fade. Photos printed using Genuine Canon CL-41/51/52, CLI-8 and BCI-16 on Photo Paper Pro PR-101 will retain sharp edge definition, even after exposure to high temperatures and humidity. Some products, on the other hand, can be susceptible to bleeding and may not maintain image quality under such conditions.

Most Helpful Favorable Review:
The price at Amazon was the best I could find at the time I was shopping for this product. I have decided that using anything other than genuine ink products made by the company that made the printer (no matter which brand) could contribute to my printers not lasting as long as I think they should! What I do like about Amazon shopping is no shipping and handling over $25 in purchases and no state tax and I do factor that in when doing my comparison shopping. What I also really like about Amazon is their fast shipping and good communication about the shipping!

This cartridge is working well for me, but you don't get a whole lot of printing out of it. I'm used to B/W laser printers where I change cartridges every several years! Here I think I'll need a new color every month and a new B/W every two month. I think the model 41 has larger capacity than the slightly cheaper model 31. I previously tried a third party refill for this type of cartridge. Not only did the colors come out wrong but it did not communicate properly to the computer that the ink cartridge was full. I guess I'll stick with the Canon originals. 5 stars except for VERY frustrating how limited the capacity is for the price. POSTSCRIPT FEB 2008: I WOULD CHANGE THIS REVIEW TO ONE STAR IF AMAZON WOULD LET ME. THE INK RUNS OUT SO FAST ITS BIZARRE. CANON MAKES SUCH GREAT CAMERAS, WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE A MORE EFFICIENT PRINTER?

Excellent for double-sided printing, the DURABrite Ultra ink doesn't bleed through paper. This ink also offers superior resistance to water, fading, smudging, and is acid-free.

Most Helpful Favorable Review:
I did not know that epson offered a color multipack in the high capacity cartridges (68 instead of 69), which will hopefully increase the time between changes. Plus, it was a better price than regular cartridges. No problems to report yet after one month.

Do yourself a favor, and buy any brand but Epson. The ink seems to dry up in the cartridges in a matter of a few weeks, and on the NX400 you can't print if *any* cartridge is empty, so you have to open a new one even if you don't need that color for the job you're printing. It's an obvious ploy to sell more ink.

Personally, I'll never buy another Epson printer because of the high cost of ink.

Canon PGI-5 BK 2-Pack Pigment Black Ink Tanks

Canon PGI-5 BK Pigment Black Ink is compatible with Canon PIXMA models iP4200, iP5200, iP5200R, 500 and 800, the PGI-5BK black ink cartridge is created with pigment ink formulation for long lasting prints. Designed to be resistant to highlighter smearing and smudges, the ultra-fine ink provides your documents with crisply legible text and sharply defined images on a range of papers. The expected yield is approximately 650 pages per cartridge, based on 5% coverage. Two black ink cartridges included.

Most Helpful Favorable Review:
The price per print of ink jet printers is simply expensive, especially when you consider the fact that the process is probably not even close to being archival quality. Yet for most they will suffice. It is commonly believed that if you want archival you should either use silver emmulsion (what you will get if you have your prints traditionally developed by a photo lab - even a one hour lab) or dye sublimation. All that being said, this ink and the printers they go into do a very good job. I've been very impressed. I don't think there is a huge difference over the last generation, but if you want the newer printers you have to make the switch to the newer ink. Good news is that it works with the current crop of paper.

What is great about this ink cartridge is that in the canon printers it is the cartridge mostly used for black print, while the other black cartridge is used for photo prints. This keeps your cost of printing regular text a little cheaper.

Buying on Amazon isn't much cheaper than other options, but if you are signed up for Amazon Prime, it is increadibly easy to buy them and have them delievered very quickly (two days).

Original HP 74/75 Ink Cartridges

HP 74/75 black/tricolor inkjet print cartridge comes in this combo pack, it produces laser-quality black text and impressive color graphics;  it uses Vivera ink technology; approx. 200 pages it yields for HP 74; about 170 color pages for HP 75 (depends on printer and specific use). It is fully compatible with select HP printers.

Fast shipping, poor quality by L. Lee 22 months ago
So the shipping was fast, the price was good. But for some reason, the ink was lower in these cartridges. The exact ones that I bought at the store last three times longer, well probably more than three times longer. I'm disappointed. I will just have to pay more next time for ink that will last me longer.

Original HP 60 Ink Cartridges

Say it best with Original HP ink with 2 ink cartridges for printing convenience. Cartridge colors are in black and tri-color; uses HP Thermal Inkjet to print; ink types: Pigment-based (black), dye-based (tri-color)

Most helpful favorable review:
There is honestly no question that when it does come down to the best in quality printer, HP has really delivered the highest quality in ink cartridges, for their printers. That is proof with the number 60 cartridges. These are actually great and simple to install in my new deskjet printer. They deliver more ink that keeps them going well with each and every time I have to print up a project on paper. Whether it is writing up a resume, or printing coupons you need off the internet for all your shopping needs, they absolutely do the trick well. Anyone who owns a HP Printer knows what they get well in the quality of ink, and that is proof with the #60 cartridges. I absolutely recommend the 2 pack of black and color cartridges as a must have for anyone who has a heavy duty printer.

Most helpful critical review:
I bought a new HP printer to replace one that I had for over 4 years. The quality of the printer is exceptional for the price. I was curious, though, why the ink cartridges for this new printer were about half the cost of the ones for the old model, so it seemed like a really good deal. Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that the new ink cartridges for this model last about half as long as the others. I agree with a lot of the recent press about the need for ink manufacturers to label their products with the quantity of ink rather than the number of pages they can print. It is impossible to compare prices and know for sure how much you are getting for your dollar. Nevertheless, I still recommend this printer. HP is a great company.
